세 번째 인턴: Gian Evard

스위스에서 온 세 번째 인턴, 지안 에바르(Gian Evard)는 이전 인턴들의 인연을 따라 저희와 함께하게 되었습니다. 기대 없이 시작한 인턴십이었지만, 그는 예상치 못한 따뜻한 감성과 깊이 있는 철학으로 저희에게 특별한 경험을 선물했습니다. 그의 보고서에 따르면, 그는 "인간으로서 풍부한 경험을 하고 우리와는 매우 다른 문화를 발견하기 위해" 한국을 찾았다고 합니다.

삶의 철학을 나눈 인연

지안은 기술적인 능력보다 저의 감정과 철학을 더 높이 평가하며, 서로 다른 나이에도 불구하고 소맥을 마시며 인생과 미래에 대한 깊은 대화를 나누곤 했습니다. 그는 영상 작업에 대해 "시적이고, 서사적이며, 변화무쌍한" 제 작업 스타일을 좋아했고, 새로운 것을 배우는 데 두려움이 없었습니다.

그는 스위스 대사관 행사에도 함께 초청되어 스위스 예술 장학재단 담당자들을 만나는 계기를 마련해주었습니다. 덕분에 저희는 인턴십 프로그램에 대한 신뢰와 확신을 얻을 수 있었습니다.

따뜻한 마음이 남긴 흔적

지안이 한국에 있는 동안 그의 친구들과 가족, 여자친구까지 한국을 방문하며 많은 스위스 친구들을 소개해주었습니다. 그의 보고서에는 서울 생활 초반의 어려움에도 불구하고 친절한 한국 사람들에게서 따뜻한 도움을 받았다고 기록되어 있습니다.

이처럼 사람의 감정과 관계를 중요하게 생각했던 그는 마지막 날 편지를 남겼고, 저는 그 편지를 보며 눈물을 흘리기도 했습니다. 그가 남긴 좋은 추억 덕분에 저는 앞으로 인턴십을 통해 어떤 가치를 추구해야 할지 깨닫게 되었습니다. 비록 몸은 떨어져 있지만, 언젠가 다시 만나고 싶은 소중한 인연으로 남았습니다.

Third Intern: Gian Evard

Our third intern, Gian Evard, also from Switzerland, joined us after following the connection established by our previous interns. We began the internship with no major expectations, but he gifted us a unique experience with his unexpected warmth and deep philosophical insights. According to his report, he came to Korea "to have a rich human experience and discover a very different culture from our own."

A Bond Forged by Philosophy

Gian valued my emotions and philosophy more than technical skills. Despite our age difference, we often drank soju and had deep conversations about life and our future. He particularly liked my "poetic, narrative, and ever-changing" work style in videography and was not afraid to learn new things.

His presence even led to an invitation to an event at the Swiss Embassy, where we met with officials from the Swiss Art Scholarship Foundation. This was a crucial moment that solidified our confidence and trust in our internship program.

A Lasting Impression

While in Korea, Gian's friends, family, and girlfriend visited, and he introduced us to many of his Swiss friends. His report notes that despite the initial difficulties of life in Seoul, he received warm help from friendly Koreans.

Gian, who valued human connection and emotion, left a letter on his last day, which brought tears to my eyes. The wonderful memories he left behind helped me realize what values I should pursue through our internship program in the future. Although we are now separated by distance, he remains a cherished friend I hope to meet again someday.
