저희의 두 번째 인턴, 스티븐 로어(Steven Lehr)는 키아라가 떠난 직후에 인연이 닿았습니다. 사진에 대한 깊은 애정을 가진 그는 영상 작업에 대한 열정도 컸죠. 한국에 올 때 카메라 장비와 짐벌은 물론, 드론까지 직접 챙겨와 촬영을 배울 만반의 준비를 갖췄습니다. 그의 보고서에 따르면, 그는 카메라 움직임을 최소화하거나, 짐벌을 활용하는 기술을 연마하는 데 많은 노력을 기울였습니다. 또한, 다큐멘터리 제작에 대한 경험을 쌓았고, 국립농업박물관을 위해 세 편의 다큐멘터리 영상을 제작했습니다.
성실함과 진솔한 열정
처음 만났을 때 저는 그의 진지하고 성실한 태도에 놀랐습니다. 마치 군인처럼 제가 설명하는 동안 꼼꼼하게 귀 기울이는 모습이 인상적이었죠. 그는 카메라, 촬영, 편집에 이르기까지 제가 가르치는 모든 것을 스펀지처럼 흡수했습니다. 특히, 다큐멘터리 영상 제작의 핵심인 '진실을 진정성 있게 전달하는 것'에 대한 중요성을 깨달았다고 합니다.
일터 밖에서의 그의 자기 관리 역시 대단했습니다. 요리를 좋아해 매일 서로 다른 나라의 음식을 만들어 '요리 배틀'을 벌였던 추억은 저에게도 소중한 기억으로 남아 있습니다. 또한 그는 사무실에서 직접 화초를 키우는 등 삶 자체를 가꾸는 데 진심이었죠. 그가 떠날 때 남기고 간 화초들은 지금도 사무실에서 잘 자라며 그의 열정을 떠올리게 합니다.
영상 제작 전문가로의 성장
스티븐은 이번 인턴십을 통해 프리 프로덕션부터 포스트 프로덕션까지 영상 제작 전반에 대한 이해를 높였습니다. 그는 단순한 보조 역할이 아닌 촬영 감독으로서 모든 촬영에 적극적으로 참여할 수 있었던 점을 특히 좋았다고 언급했습니다. 이 경험은 그가 영상 전문가로 성장하는 데 중요한 발판이 되어주었죠.

Second Intern: Steven Lehr
Our second intern, Steven Lehr, contacted us immediately after Chiara's departure. A Swiss interactive media designer, Steven was passionate about photography and eager to learn videography. He came to Korea fully prepared, bringing his own camera equipment, gimbal, and even a drone.
A Dedicated and Prepared Intern
I was surprised by his immediate professionalism; he reminded me of a disciplined soldier, standing with his hands behind his back while I explained the camera. He was incredibly dedicated, absorbing everything I taught him about cinematography, shooting, and editing. His self-discipline extended beyond work—he was meticulous in managing his personal life, a trait I greatly admire.
Culinary Adventures and Shared Experiences
Steven loved to cook, and we made a habit of exchanging meals. I'd prepare Korean or other Asian dishes, and in return, he'd make Swiss-style curries or tataki. These friendly "cooking battles" created wonderful memories. We also took many business trips together, including one to Jeju Island, which was fortunate as we were able to focus on the type of filming he enjoyed most: documentary videography. His report shows that he worked on three museum documentaries , including one for the National Agricultural Museum of Korea , and even helped design a book that was distributed in thousands of copies.
A Lasting Impact
Steven's thorough self-management was impressive. In addition to cooking, he even grew plants in our office, a reminder of him that continues to thrive. He left a lasting impact, proving that our interns aren't just here to learn skills but to bring their unique passions and perspectives to our creative space.
